¶ What is RoninSteel Stealth?
RoninSteel Stealth allows you to backup your bitcoin wallet keeping it safe from the elements as it's fire resistant and water proof.
A bitcoin wallet is (normally) secured by a 12 or 24 Mnemonic Words, plus an optional Passphrase. Storing these on a RoninSteel and keeping it somewhere safe is highly important, as if you lose access to your bitcoin wallet software you can easily recover your bitcoin on another device using the backup which you've made in steel.

Passphrase:
- RoninSteel Stealth can be stamped with a Passphrase of up to 24 characters (uppercase-letters / lowercase-letters / numbers / symbols).
¶ Additional Passphrase Information
If you are using bitcoin wallet software such as Samourai, by default you will have a Passphrase.
A Passphrase may also be referred to as a BIP39 Passphrase
If you have a Passphrase, you will need this to be able to recover your bitcoin wallet, so make sure you back it up!
A Passphrase can be made from a combination of: uppercase-letters, lowercase-letters, numbers, or symbols.

- A bitcoin wallet.
- RoninSteel Stealth metal plate.
- RoininSteel Stealth sticker.
- Center punch.
- Hard surface or anvil.

Follow this video tutorial to backup your bitcoin wallet using RoninSteel Stealth.
- In this tutorial we give an example of how to backup a
12 Word Mnemonic+Passphraseusing the RoninSteel Stealth Samourai. - If you have only 1 of these RoninSteel plates, you will not be able to recover your bitcoin wallet! You need both plates to recover the bitcoin wallet!
Notice: there are 2048 English words in the Mnemonic word list. You only need to backup the first four letters of each word.
¶ Backup: Best Practices
- Mark the RoninSteel Stealth sticker with a Sharpie, and double check the marks before stamping a RoninSteel plate.
- Do not take a photograph of your
Mnemonic Words,Passphrase, orRoninSteel. - Destroy the RoninSteel Stealth stickers when done.

- Stamp the
12/24 Word Mnemonicon a separate RoninSteel plate than yourPassphrase. - Store the
12/24 Word Mnemonicplate in a separate location from yourPassphraseplate.

Recovery summary steps:
- Download template.
- Print template.
- Cut out template, and overlay it onto your RoninSteel.
- Using a scribe or sharp pencil, trace the punched holes and write down the corresponding letters/number/symbol.

When printing the template, to ensure the dimensions will match your RoninSteel ensure you have:

¶ Cut Out Template
Top tip: we have found it is best to cut inside the black boarder line. This will ensure the template fits perfectly onto your RoninSteel.
¶ Find Those Punches
Run a scribe or sharp pencil down each column to find the punch. Once found, write the uppercase-letter / lowercase-letter / number / symbol on a piece of paper.
¶ Bitcoin Wallet
Now you can use your recovered 12/24 Mnemonic Words (and Passphrase if applicable) to restore your bitcoin in your preferred wallet software.
